Megan Finnigan: The Everton captain has signed a one-year extension with the WSL club

Everton captain Megan Finnigan has signed a one-year contract extension with the Women’s Super League club.

The new deal means Finnigan, 28, has spent 20 years at the club, including his time at the Toffees academy.

The centre-back missed last season with an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, but said he was feeling “positive” and that his two decades with the club were “special”.

“I’m feeling very positive right now. I’m glad I picked it up, and I’m in a good place in terms of recovery,” Finnigan said.

“I’ve been in the off-season, worked hard to come back. This will be my 20th year at the club and it’s special for me. Hopefully it’s even more special because this is the season I’m back.”

Finnigan has made over 200 appearances for the Blues since making his senior debut in 2015.
