Megan Barker regained the title at the National Road Championship


Megan Barker reclaimed her British elite women’s circuit race title on day two of the National Road Championships as a second Welsh winner emerged.

Barker won in a sprint finish on the course at Aberystwyth to follow up his success in the same event in 2023.

Cardiff-born 28-year-old Carys Lloyd – the teenager who will join as part of Barker Wales’ selection for this summer’s Commonwealth Games In Glasgow – less than three hundredths of a second.

Scotland’s Eilidh Shaw was third.

One or two people came to the house after a day Zoe Backstedt topped an All-Welsh podium Anna Morris and sister Elinor Backstead lead the way in the women’s time trial at Lampeter.

Matthew Bostock won the open race title on the five-lap 1.6km circuit ahead of Jacob Busch and Thomas Portsmouth.

The championships continue on Sunday with the Road Race Championships – also taking place in Aberystwyth.
