Wilfried Mbappe spoke. Father of French star Kylian Mbappeabout the great human sacrifice behind his son’s success, highlighting that the Real Madrid forward left the family home at a very young age and has not returned since, representing the dark side of the journey to stardom.
Wilfried Mbappe said about his son’s childhood In statements given to French television“I would like to focus on the sacrifices. You talk about the sacrifices it represents on a human level to have a son who plays football. I saw Killian leave home when he was 12 or 13.”
Wilfred believes that while his son’s success has changed the course of his life, he has lost something close that he will never be able to get back, the time he should have spent with Killian.
He added: “People don’t realize it, but there’s a lot we don’t have, a lot we’ll never be able to make up for, and there’s a lot we haven’t done together.”
He continued. “Who gives birth to children these days only to lose them at 13 or 14? No one… no father or mother can say. “My son left home at the age of 13 and never came back.” That’s exactly what happened to us. It’s his project and it’s a nice story and all that, but the truth is, when I explain it to some parents, they don’t understand anymore. Monaco with champions…”
In his speech, Wilfried Mbappe addressed his opinion on Zinedine Zidane in light of reports that have him as a candidate to take over the French national team, where he said:
“We will know later, but it will be very difficult to follow in the footsteps of Deschamps. Today we may find that he has many faults, but when he is gone we will find many advantages in him. We must not forget what he has achieved, nor the record he will leave, and if the alternative is Zidane, we will all be happy.”
