Mbappe has equaled Kane…and continues his march towards Cristiano Ronaldo’s throne

Mbappe scored to give the Roosters the lead

Kylian Mbappe cemented his all-time record for France at major tournaments when he scored the Roosters’ first goal in the 60th minute as France won 2-0 in the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup on Thursday.

Mbappe took his tally to 21 goals in major competitions (20 at the World Cup, one at the UEFA Nations Cup), leveling him with England’s Harry Kane for second on the list of European players with the most goals in major competitions, behind Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo, who leads the way with 25 goals, and ahead of Germany’s Miroslav Klose (19) (19).
