Amarilla labeled Mbappe “the Cameroonian” after his penalty helped France knock Paraguay out of the World Cup.

French player Kylian Mbappe and the country’s football governing body have responded to the Paraguayan senator who insulted the player after Paraguay’s elimination from the World Cup.
The French Football Federation (FFF) said on Monday it would report to the prosecutor’s office to issue a decision against Celeste Amarilla, shortly after Mbappe responded to the Paraguayan’s outburst on social media.
Mbappe, who led France to the World Cup as captain and top scorer, described Amarilla as a “despicable woman” and the FFF said her insults were “disgusting and unacceptable”.
The 27-year-old’s penalty proved the difference in an injury-plagued and lackluster game as France cruised to a 1-0 win in Philadelphia on Saturday to advance to the quarter-finals.
Amarilla wrote a long racist article on X, describing Mbappe as a “Cameroonian colonist, eager to present himself as a Frenchman” and an illiterate “brutal”. The Paraguayan players should have slapped him after the match, he added.
Mbappe responded with strong words of defense for himself and Paraguay’s players.
“Madame Celeste Amarilla, you are a disgraced woman and unworthy of your position. You do not represent Paraguay, a country that has been sweating and honoring throughout the tournament,” he wrote.
“Through your indifference and your shameless prejudice, the whole world has already forgotten the unforgettable journey and effort your players made during this World Cup, making way for an ignorant woman who is giving the worst image of her country.
“I will not allow people like him the freedom to spread their hatred and racism around the world.”
The FFF said it supported Mbappe, the French players and “all those affected by the foul language”, adding that the comments were “criminal and criminal”.
“He should be prosecuted here like anywhere else. The FFF is writing a report to the prosecutor’s office for prosecution.”
“These words insult those who make them and those who spread them. The players of the French National Team represent France; it is our country that is being insulted.”
France will face Morocco in the first quarter-final in Boston on Thursday. Les Bleus last won the title in 2018 and qualified for Argentina’s World Cup 2022 in Qatar.
