The goalkeeper of the Argentine national team, Emiliano Martinez, commented on the defeat of the tango dancers in the final of the 2026 World Cup.

Spain won the title after beating Argentina with an unanswered goal by Ferran Torres in extra time.

Emiliano Martinez wrote on his Instagram page: “I dreamed that we would win it again. I dreamed of taking it to Argentina and making history again.”

“It’s really hard to explain this pain and all we have to do is think carefully about a lot of things and see how we can move forward and whether it’s time to step aside. I’m really sorry. I have spared no effort to help my country and my colleagues.”
