What are the best and worst times to shoot the Harry Potter movies? donkey 1
The worst part was being away from home and for long hours. The best part was working and talking to other actors. I look back with great pleasure. I remember saying to Alan Rickman that the collective name of actors is a myth.
Michael Gambon was the king of stories. He starts cracking jokes and you never know where he’s going. But he can fix them; it was well designed – some of his best work was behind it. Richard Griffiths was also very successful. His stories were brilliant, and never out of print.
Maggie (Smith) loved being Maggie. I remember one time when I wore a blazer that a friend had made for me and I could see her sparkling in the room. Then he looked up and said: “Have you been to Henley?” He was happy about that.
By Robbie Coltrane I used to go through Plant Trader, which was a magazine selling big things: cranes, tractors, earthmoving equipment. We didn’t buy anything, but we got close.
What’s the oddest place you’ve been known as Harry Potter? section 47
I’ll answer that question by telling you about the odd person I recognized making those films. We were shooting in the Ministry of Magic: a large group with many extras. This guy passed me and I thought: he is my accountant. When we stopped shooting, I went and said: “Harry? He said: “Oh, we’re our own group, we just come and do some support acts for fun. I told the assistant director: don’t reduce the extras.
Do you keep in touch with any of the actors who played your children in the Harry Potter films? Is there a Weasley family reunion? aongirl
We don’t have relationships, but we are connected. I have worked with the twins on one of their records. We went to Singapore: very good, too. But I connect more with the dark side: death eaters like Nick Moran and Jason Isaacs.
Have you ever been offered the role of a hero, James Bond or Superman? Would you rather go to one of the famous ones, for example, Doctor Who? tea 12
I’ve been in Doctor Who: I was Brian Williamswho is the type of antihero. I have never been given a higher position, although I think Mr. Brown is making progress.
Who do you like to hang out with? Foxile47
First, Hugh Laurie, in 101 Dalmatians and The Borrowers. Second, all the clothing departments. This has been a very fruitful partnership. I remember going to meet Bunny Christie at Shakespeare in Love, and he looked me up and down like he does and said: “Hmm, making, I guess.” I felt like I had arrived: I wasn’t finding something. These days, I’m starting to wear suits. In the past, it was closed: if you wear a suit, you are a suit. But now it’s amazing.
What’s new on the Harry Potter studio tour? donkey 1
Fluffy’s paw (Hagrid’s three-headed dog). I just love the idea of the giant animatronic hand. It makes me think of Ray Harryhausen. You only have that kind of thing in movies.
I liked it Industrial revelations list. Would you like to wear the showman’s hat again? lead balloon
I want to do something about maritime culture in the British Isles. I am very interested in that. I want to tackle the nuts and bolts of technology, the how and the why. We contributed a lot to this worldwide. I would go to Chatham, Hartlepool, west coast ports, Brixham etc. You have ports everywhere, which still have great potential for excavation.
What do you find most difficult, being in a film or on TV? All animals are important
I don’t differentiate. I just like to work.
Do you find yourself alone? saying things like “It suits you sir” or “Good”? Between TheWaves
Not really, but my mother did it without consent. He used to go: “That was good.” I was looking at her and thinking: you know it was me, mom?
Are you tired of hearing your words spoken or yelled at? CaptainLib
If you can’t make time, don’t make mistakes. One time I was near the end of the platform at Clapham Junction in London and the train took off. The driver was with me and he looked at me once. The train waited for a while. Then, just before the whistle blew, the driver leaned to the side and went: “You didn’t see me, did you?” What I thought was a great time and I want to thank him.
What words do you hear and think: oh my goodness, I wish they were mine? catchytitled
I thought about this a lot. I was surprised “I’m free!” and “Oh, matron!”but I was talking to my wife and the one I use the most is “How did you wake up?”which is a brilliant work from Catherine Tate. I just love it. You just have a lot of politics in it. It’s amazing.
As Mr. Brown you sang The Spaniard The Wounded One My life. You have a great voice, and you can do strange things George Formby thoughts too. Have you considered a career in music? Janchan
No. I’ve done (Doctor) Dolittle on tour, though, and I’m a big fan of the music. I love the British: the humor, the madness, the madness of it.
You should have looked Alec Guinness like before Mr. Brown took the role? Another great actor with a gift for comedy who has found himself in a huge franchise. WordFailMe
As much as I like Alec Guinness, I think he’s badass to Mr. Brown. He makes the same sound as the bishop in Kind Hearts and Coronets. They act like priests – and that’s not Father Brown’s point. Maybe he thought it was disrespectful. But the words are amazing.
Do you like to watch anything else on telly or football? Stevelittlefingers
I don’t watch any football anymore. I’m bad at looking at them. I usually watch old movies on my phone in bed.
Can you claim yourself the most famous Bromsgrovian? SnowyJohn
Rufus Norrisa former director of the National Theatre, from Bromsgrove. I think he can have it. Although he didn’t get much traction in Japan. When you are with me. Even in China – I think Father Brown is shown there. I want to go to China because I want to ride the maglev train. Why aren’t we using it now? We are very out of touch with our anxiety and anger. We need to stop protesting and start working together, putting maglevs in airports, and post offices under London.
Years ago you did sales about cherry bakewells. Do you like it? cherry bakewells, and did you get any freebies? onechrishill
I love cherry cakes, but above all battenberg: the perfect cake. A big fan of marzipan. I love the sugar sheath. But I don’t release it separately. I just eat.
