Barcelona have been on the hunt for a new striker in the current transfer window, focusing their attention on one of the Premier League’s hottest rising names, but Manchester United have quickly made up their minds and closed the door on any attempts to negotiate for their Slovenian striker Benjamin Sisko.
According to what the website revealed.CaughtOffsideBarcelona have included Cisco in their list of alternatives if their efforts to sign Argentine forward Julian Alvarez, who is the Catalan club’s first target to strengthen their attacking line, fail.
Alvarez remains Barcelona’s preferred choice, but agreeing a deal with Atletico Madrid looks to be a very difficult task given the Spanish club’s commitment to their Argentine star and their refusal to part with him, barring a huge financial offer, which may be difficult for Barcelona to match at the moment.
This complexity prompted Barcelona’s management to explore other options in the transfer market and it was only natural that Benjamin Cisco’s name came up after he caught the eye in his first season in a Manchester United shirt.
But the answer from “Old Trafford” was clear and decisive. Manchester United have no intention of selling the player, despite inquiries the club has received from some intermediaries regarding the possibility of signing him.
This position comes as part of the great belief that Sisko has at the club, as manager Michael Carrick sees him as one of the main pillars of his long-term technical project at Manchester United.
The English club invested heavily in the Slovenian striker from Leipzig and after the levels he produced in his first season, the management were convinced he could lead the team’s front line for many years to come.
That is why Manchester United class Sisko as an “untouchable” player and are not currently considering selling him.
In the current season, Sisco participated in 30 matches in various competitions, during which he played 1635 minutes, becoming the author of 11 goals and one assist. He also hit 51 goals, including 34 between the posts and the post.
Manchester United’s moves in the transfer market confirm the level of confidence in the player as the club look for an additional striker to back up Sisko and provide him with more attacking support, rather than finding a replacement.
The Slovenian striker’s importance to the team increases in light of the departure of Rasmus Hoylund, in addition to the uncertainty surrounding the future of Joshua Zirkze, which rules out the idea of giving up Cisco, as it would force the club to completely rebuild its attack line.
For his part, the player has shown no desire to leave, with reports suggesting that Sisko is comfortable at Old Trafford, enjoying working under Michael Carrick and is not currently considering a new attempt.
Accordingly, Barcelona’s interest is closer to simply watching and admiring the player’s potential than an actual experience that could translate into a transfer deal.
Given Manchester United’s staunch stance, there are no signs of opening the door to negotiations, leaving Benjamin Sisko’s future to settle for now, with his project continuing at Old Trafford as one of the most important elements of the team’s future.
