Manchester City have announced the departure of their Spanish coach Pep Guardiola as first-team coach after a historic ten-year career that saw the club witness one of the most successful periods ever in modern football.

Guardiola will step down next summer’s transfer window after taking over in July 2016, leading the club to a comprehensive turnaround in terms of performance, results and tactical identity.

During a full decade in the job, the Spanish coach managed to win 20 major titles, becoming the most decorated manager in the club’s history, while also cementing his position as one of the greatest coaching minds in the history of the game.

Despite the end of his technical mission with the first team, Guardiola will remain connected to the City Football Group system, where he will take on the role of “global ambassador”, in addition to providing technical advice to the group’s clubs and participating in specific strategic projects and partnerships.
