Man Utd agree Ederson deal: Atlanta midfielder set for £38m transfer to Old Trafford Football News

Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign Atalanta midfielder Ederson.

Sky Sports News United are understood to pay an initial fee of £34m (€40.5m) and £3.8m (€4.5m) in potential add-ons.

Ederson is set to sign a four-year contract at the club to stay for an additional 12 months.

The deal is expected to be done before July, subject to Ederson completing a medical, which would make 26-year-old Michael Carrick the first signing of the era.

United are ready to sign a player they have a long-term interest in but want to sign another midfielder in the summer window, with Casemiro due to leave and Manuel Ugarte also likely to leave.

Who is Ederson and what will he bring to Man Utd’s midfield?

Manchester United’s midfield must be overhauled this summer and while Ederson is not the only answer, his signing appears to be a step in the right direction. The 26-year-old Brazil international from Atlanta could bring the dynamism Michael Carrick needs.

Kobi Mainu starts in class but United need a variety of options as they look to replace the departed Casemiro and the disappointingly limited Manuel Ugarte.

Ederson, with whom they have been linked for a long time, looks a smart signing due to his flexibility.
