Luke Leiter is close to quitting Premier League darts because of the crowds

Littler topped the Premier League table for the third consecutive year.

Reaching the finals for the third year in a row, he won the title in two.

In the year In 2025, he set a new record by winning the league title, and in 2026, he set a record of 6.

Despite this, Leiter said he felt he didn’t want to “move on to the next Premier League night”.

He added: “Tonight was one of those wins where I had to finish. I don’t even want to sit at home and go out. I don’t want to go to the next Premier League night, but we did it.

“We’re not just darts players, we’re people. I can’t believe I won.”

The current Premier League format lasts 17 weeks if you make it to finals night and see players in England, Republic of Ireland and Europe play each Thursday in the league phase.

The event features just eight players – four of the world’s top-ranked players and four players invited by the Professional Darts Corporation – and runs alongside Pro Tour events.

Sky Sports pundit Wayne Mardle has highlighted that former world champions Gerwyn Price and Phil Taylor have felt the same pressure as Littler in the past.

“It’s not uncommon for the Premier League to be hectic, it’s a test of endurance week in week out.

“Sometimes you can feel frustrated and if you do, you will be mentally weak.

“We know how strong Luke Leiter is mentally, but when you look like public enemy number one, you can feel that you don’t want to come, but he came and this is now the result of his return.”

Despite his near retirement, Littler’s dominance of the sport continues to grow.

The win added to his Premier League wins at the World Championships, World Masters and UK Open this year.

Littler holds seven of the eight Premier League titles and the Professional Darts Corporation.

“There’s a point in everyone’s career when they’re at their peak – we don’t know if this is his peak but we know it’s the peak because Michael van Gerwen and Phil Taylor’s peak was such a standard,” added Mardle.

“We are assuming that he should be at the peak and that is enough time and time. There are no weaknesses.”

Next up for Littler is an honor with Luke Humphries for England at the World Cup of Darts in June.

If the pair play anything like they did in London on Thursday night, you can’t bet against them.
