Luke Humphries cruised to his first Premier League success of the night with wins over Luke Littler and Gerwyn Price in Birmingham to reach the play-offs at London’s O2.
Humphries opened the night with a whitewash win over Stephen Bunting, before defeating world No. 1 Luke Littler and then Gerwin Price in the final.
He took 117 and averaged 100.16 for 6-4 glory against Price which meant all four play-off spots were now assured.
“I’m incredibly proud of myself, probably the proudest I’ve ever been in my life. For me, the last two Premier Leagues have been easy, getting through 14 weeks,” said former world champion Humphries.
“I’ve had a lot of pressure on my shoulders over the last few weeks. To play in three finals and win one means a lot. As a player I’ve written a lot of names but it means I have that tenacity and tenacity.”
He added: “Yeah (there was a point where I thought I wouldn’t make finals night). When you’re five points outside the top four you think you need a miracle.
“But in the back of my mind, my girlfriend’s mind, we knew I had it in me. I needed someone to tell me I could do it, and I’ve believed in myself over the last few weeks.
“I’m really proud because it would have hurt me if I hadn’t defended the title at the O2.”
Humphries averaged around 111 as he defeated arch nemesis Luke Littler 6-3 to reach his third-consecutive night final.
‘Cool Hand’ reeled off six straight legs for a massive 3-0 win at Littler.
John Part of Sky Sports Darts called Humphries’ performance “golden”, saying: “I described Luke’s chances of qualifying as unlikely a few weeks ago. But he made them likely to qualify. What a performance tonight, absolutely golden, you couldn’t ask for more.”
Price secured his place in the play-offs for the second time in a row by defeating Jean van Veen in a tight semi-final battle.
The Welshman reached his first overnight final since winning in Manchester six weeks ago with scores of 112 and 109 to win 6-4 against the world youth champion.
Littler has whitewashed Jonny Clayton with a ton to guarantee he remains top of the Premier League for a third consecutive campaign.
The teenager faced another clash with old foes Humphries in the semi-finals, where reigning champion Stephen Bunting thrashed the Liverpudlian 6-0.
‘Cool Hand’ averaged 107.3 with 60 percent in doubles.
Van Veen delivered a ton-topping average to Josh Rock and set up a date with Price.
The young Dutch star averaged over 102 to earn a valuable two points in his push for the play-offs, while Price wrested victory from Michael van Gerwen in a back-to-back thriller.
‘The Iceman’ crashed eight 180s and averaged a ton to claim a massive two points and close to The O2.
Mark Webster has rejoined the Sky Sports team in Birmingham and recently revealed that he was Diagnosed with hairy cell leukemia – a rare form of blood cancer – and recovery has been slower than expected.
The 2026 BetMGM Premier League season ends at the Utilita Arena Table position is at stake in Sheffield, which will determine who plays in the play-off semi-finals.
