Luka Vuskovic: Brighton complete £50m deal to sign Tottenham defender | football news

Brighton have completed a club-record deal for Luka Vuskovic from Spurs.

The 19-year-old defender joins in a deal worth up to £50m, split into a guaranteed £46m and £4m of attainable add-ons.

Spurs have retained a 20 per cent sell-on clause and matching rights as part of the deal – meaning the north London club are likely to bring the Croatia international back to the club in the future.

After spending last season in Hamburg, Vuskovic and his representatives have made clear to Spurs their desire to play regular first-team football at a permanent club, not another loan.

With Spurs signing Marcos Senesi and Brighton’s Jan Paul van Hey in the summer, adding to current options Christian Romero, Kevin Danso and Micky van de Ven, Vuskovic could not be guaranteed first-team football.

Vuskovic departs as Spurs’ fourth biggest sale behind Harry Kane, Gareth Bale and Kyle Walker.

More to follow.
