LPGA: Dominant Nellie Korda cruises to victory in Mexico

World number one Nelly Korda shot 69 holes without a bogey to win by four shots at the Riviera Maya Open in Mayacoba, Mexico.

A week later Korda won His third major With a five-shot victory at the Chevron Championship, he was just as dominant as he beat Thailand’s Arpichaia Yubol, who finished alone in second place with a 70 on his 24th birthday.

China’s Yu Liu (69) shot back more.

“I’m just enjoying myself and I love the competition. I love traveling around the world to places like Mexico. I’m just having fun,” Korda said after a closing-round 69.

The 27-year-old American opened up a seven-shot lead early in the final round to avoid a thunderstorm.

His run of bogey-free holes, which began after a drop shot on the second hole of the first round, ended with a mishap on the last after a shot into the bushes and then a bunker.

Six stops him from matching his largest LPGA Tour margin of victory, set by his five-shot win in Houston last week.

“Golf humbled me on the last hole and I made my first bogey of the weekend,” he said.

“Overall I’m very happy. I played some really good golf. You work. Everybody here works. Sometimes it works.”
