Like father, the family runs on international goals

This list is not exhaustive.

There are many father-son partnerships that have made their mark on the international stage.

Justin Kluivert and his father Patrick may soon join the honor roll. Patrick scored an impressive 40 goals in his 79-cap Netherlands career.

Bournemouth midfielder Justin is yet to score for the Orange, but will be looking to change that at the upcoming World Cup this summer.

If Justin finds the net for the Netherlands, Kluiverts will join Gudgeonsens in scoring for three generations in a row at international level, as grandfather Kenneth scored three times twice for Suriname.

Sergio Conceicao scored a famous hat-trick for Portugal against Germany at Euro 2000 and 24 years later his son Francisco made sure they replicated Chisas as he scored for Portugal in the opening game of Euro 2024.

As Wales prepare for their friendly against Romania on Saturday, it’s only fitting that we discuss Welsh tormentor George Hagee and his son Yannis.

Jorg was apart of the Romania team that qualified for three consecutive World Cups and scored 35 goals for his national team, while his son Yannis scored eight times for his country.

As Argentina prepare to defend their World Cup triumph, Diego Simeone and his two sons deserve a mention.

Diego scored 11 goals in 106 appearances, while his eldest son Giovanni scored once, and exciting prospect and youngest son Giuliano has 11 caps and a goal against rivals Brazil in 2025.
