Liam Dawson: The Hampshire all-rounder has retired from first-class cricket

Dawson scored over 10,000 runs and took over 350 wickets in over 200 games for Hampshire.

He also made four Test appearances for England against India and South Africa, his most recent appearance at Emirates Old Trafford last summer.

Only Robin Smith, Jimmy Adams and James Vince scored more runs than Dawson for the men’s 21st century team.

He scored 54 half-centuries and 17 centuries, including a career-best innings of 171 against Kent at Canterbury in 2022.

he Signed a new three-year contract Hampshire in 2025 and will return to the Utilita Bowl for the first T20 match of the season on 22 May.

“Liam has been an outstanding servant of Hampshire cricket,” said Giles White, director of cricket.

“He leaves a huge hole in the team and will be difficult to replace, especially for the remainder of this Championship season.

“He is the only Hampshire player in the modern era to represent the club in more than 200 first-class appearances, which underlines how rare an achievement is at this level.

“We support Liam’s decision and are delighted that he is fully committed to the white-ball game. We have no doubt that he will be a match-winner for Hampshire for years to come. He is a very important part of our plans.”
