Bastogne’s chances are 99% better.
Barcelona are set to address their defense ahead of the start of the 2026-2027 season, with Hansi Flick and the sport’s administration relentless in their efforts to bolster the defensive line with a new centre-back, in addition to the top priority of bringing in a match-fixing striker.
Kiwior is back on Barca’s radar
In recent hours, a familiar name has returned to the circle of interest of the Catalan club: Polish Jakub Kuyor, a defender who has long been on the Blaugrana’s summer transfer lists.
Journalist Matteo Moreto revealed on Radio Marca’s “Wake Up San Francisco” program that Barcelona are keeping a close eye on the player.
“Barcelona has several priorities in the transfer market. They need a striker and a defender and one of the names that Barca have been following all year and sending scouts to immediately follow him is Porto’s Quivio.”
There are currently no negotiations
Moreto added: “Currently there are no negotiations. He is a player that Barcelona have been watching closely for the past few months, but at the moment they are focused on the striker.
Arsenal own the Polish player, who is currently on loan at Porto in a deal that includes a mandatory purchase option worth around €17m, in addition to variable bonuses.
Perfect specs for flakes
Kiyor is 26 years old and has a height of 1.89 meters, which gives him an advantage in aerial confrontations. He plays as a left centre-back but has the tactical flexibility to play as a left-back or even a defensive midfielder.
His characteristics are characterized by a strong physical build, good ability to distribute the ball and versatility in positions, which suit Flick’s tactical philosophy.
Lewandowski praised him
A few years ago, when Kiure was playing in the Italian club “Spezia”, his compatriot Robert Lewandowski, the star of “Barcelona”, praised him, “Sport” newspaper writes.
Lewandowski said then. “This is realistic. I realized this during the warm-up before the game against Holland. I asked: Who is this? Then I saw him at a meeting, he was exceptional. He really has huge potential.”
Bastogne is constantly left out of the reckoning
While Qiyur’s stock is rising as an economical and flexible alternative, Italian Alessandro Bastoni, the Inter Milan defender who was considered Barca’s number one target, is all but missing.
“The Bastogne deal is not completely cancelled, but I would say it has been reduced by 99%,” Morento confirmed.
