Let Tom Hiddleston be your guide on the last day of Pompeii



When Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 CE, the volcano spewed molten rock, ash, and hot ash over the cities of Pompeii and Herculaneumkilling thousands of people. It is one of the most famous natural disasters in human history, so naturally there have been many articles about Pompeii (and only one a popular song). But only one with actor Tom Hiddleston taking on the role of “time detective” to bring the people of Pompeii to a better life. These could be three new National Geographic documentaries, Pompeii: Time’s Up.

The Marvel connection is made It’s Time Out happen. Executive producer Kevin Wright was also a producer on the Disney+ team Lokiwhich included a scene where Hiddleston’s Loki time-travels to Pompeii. Hiddleston also studied archeology at the University of Cambridge and visited the archaeological site of Pompeii as a teenager, which the Marvel star says led to his misbehavior.

“There’s a passion for Tom’s storytelling that’s contagious,” Wright told Ars. “We knew that if we could film and post (the series), it would appeal to people who wouldn’t normally want to watch Pompeii documentaries.”
