Former Zamalek star Abdel Halim Ali believes that Defeat in the African Confederation Cup Al-Ittihad’s game against Al-Capital does not mean the end of the road, showing that the team came away with important achievements despite losing the title.
Zamalek lost the tournament 8-7 on penalties yesterday, after the home and away matches ended 1-1 on aggregate.
Abdel Halim Ali told Zamalek TV that the team is very close to winning the title, explaining that the Confederation would represent a major turning point for the club at various levels, but now the focus should be on winning the league title.
Zamalek’s all-time top goalscorer added that the ball is now in the court of the coaching staff and players, especially after the team received massive support from the public in the final, urging everyone to turn their sadness into strong motivation in the next round.
Abdel Halim Ali concluded his remarks by emphasizing that the players of the current generation are lucky to have this public presence, saying that he envies them for this support because Zamalek fans are always able to lead the team to the championship.
Zamalek will play Ceramica Cleopatra in the final round of the league next Wednesday, and a draw is enough to officially clinch the title, barring results from rivals Pyramids and Al-Ahly.
