Laughter and tears at Dame Penelope Keith’s funeral in Guildford

Dame Penelope Keith’s funeral has been hailed by friends as “wonderful, beautiful and absolutely stunning”.

The actress, who starred in The Good Life and To The Manor Born, “passed away peacefully at home from cancer” on June 29 at the age of 86.

Broadcaster, writer and former politician Giles Brandret said the funeral was “mixed with sadness but also full of laughter and gratitude because we were celebrating a great actor”.

“It was a great way to remember a wonderful man,” he said BBC Radio Surrey.

He later posted on X: “There was laughter and tears at Guildford Cathedral this morning – a truly beautiful and moving funeral for Dame Penelope Keith – what a woman and what a perfect service.”

“It totally captured her. She was so special.”
