He praised Cristiano Ronaldo

Aymeric Laporte spoke again about one of the most important decisions of his football career, representing Spain instead of France, stressing that he never regretted it.

In an interview with “La Tribu” radio program“Radio Marka”The defender of the Spanish national team recalled the controversy surrounding his naturalization and explained that he never regretted wearing the jersey of the Spanish national team.

“It’s been a tough time for me,” he admitted, but brushed off any controversy by saying: “I’ve made a decision and I’m very happy with it.”

The Spanish footballer noted that other players have gone through similar situations without receiving the same amount of media attention.

He explained. “There wasn’t a lot of hype about the players ahead of me in this experience.”

For example, he explained that during his time with France’s youth teams, he played alongside “22 or 23 players” who, like him, eventually went on to represent other national teams, although their performances “didn’t receive the same mass coverage” and did not create “the same amount of noise and buzz”.

Interests that extend beyond the field

Laporte also spoke about his performances as part of the Spanish national team and the criticisms addressed to him in recent months.

The defender explained that Spain’s playing style suits him. “The style of play that we follow here is the one that I feel most comfortable in and I feel that I give my best.”

However, he surprised everyone by confirming that some of the discussions were not based on purely mathematical interpretation. “Of course, there are other interests in the world of football. I know this from a reliable source.”

The centre-back explained this point at length, directly addressing marketing and media coverage.

“Sometimes it’s to their advantage that one player is highlighted more than another,” before revealing a personal experience with one of the popular sports magazines, where he explained:
