Barcelona president Joan Laporta has praised the Moroccan national team after the level they showed at the 2026 World Cup in America, Canada and Mexico.
The Moroccan team reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup for the second time in a rowBefore beating France 2-0.
“The Moroccan national team has a lot of potential and it was nice for me to watch them on TV because they are very strong and have talent.”
He explained. “There is (Ezedine) Ounahi who plays for Girona and there are very good players in midfield and forward as well as a goal scorer.”
Laporta said about the reason for withdrawing from the World Championship. “Morocco faced special circumstances against France and I think that match was a bit different from what the team has been doing since the start of the World Cup until the end of it.”
“But the last World Cup is considered a success for Morocco, that’s clear.”
Laporta is currently in the United States of America to watch the final match of the 2026 World Cup, in which the Spanish national team will meet its counterpart Argentina, tomorrow, Sunday, at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
