If you are done looking at Amazon’s Prime Day sale announcements and Amazon’s sales tools, I can’t blame you. It’s everywhere these days, and every website is trying to copy that product. If you feel like you want to escape the Amazon ecosystem grind, I have an idea (and a sale!) for you.
One of the biggest markets Amazon has revolutionized is buying books. (I’ll always miss the beloved Borders bookstore.) If you want to read what you read from Amazon, you can put Kindle they sell down and start buying different things e-reader. There is a better option for you that offers better value color screencomes with page turning buttons, and it can double as a digital pen.
What is that tool, you may wonder? It’s the Kobo Libra model, and it’s not the only e-reader that model is being sold.
The Kobo Libra version is I like the e-reader format. It has a beautiful 7-inch screen with a warm front light, and 32 GB of storage to store hundreds of books. I love the Kobo e-reader, and you’ll get everything you’d find on a Kindle: a store dedicated to buying e-books, membership (Kobo Plus, starting at $8 per week) you can join to access a library of e-books and audio, as well as the ability to add library books to the device.
But what I really like about it Kobo Libra type how much else do you get for the same price as the Kindle Colorsoft. Both have color displays, but the Libra version has page-turning buttons and a larger side with said buttons, making it easier to hold and navigate your pages (no more quick tapping on your screen to find your page). I would also love it if you buy it Kobo Stylus 2 ($70)it can double as a digital pen. I really like that you can annotate your books on the website with the Kobo, which the Kindle doesn’t let you do.
Kobo recently raised its prices, so you don’t get the same discounts as before. But that’s why I’m going to jump on this sale now, so you don’t have to pay the new price instead of the lower price.
Looking for something affordable, and not married to a color screen? Kobo’s Clara BW is also for sale.
The Clara is smaller than the Libra Color, with a 6-inch black and white screen, but it has a warm front light. It’s similar to the Kindle Paperwhite in that sense, but it’s the size of the original Kindle. It’s not as cheap as the Paperwhite, so the other is a good buy if you’re open to a black-and-white e-reader, but if you’re looking for a cheap way to get out from under Amazon’s boot, this is a good option.
