The Greens star recalls the historic victory ahead of the World Cup

Saudi Arabia star Mohammed Kano has revealed the Greens’ preparations for the 2026 World Cup finals in America, Canada and Mexico and the goal the players have in mind.

The Saudi Arabian national team will begin their journey at the 2026 World Cup in the early hours of next Tuesday when they face the national team of Uruguay. In the first round of the group stage at the “Hard Rock” stadium in Miami, USA.

“Our group for the 2026 World Cup is not easy and each match is more difficult than the last,” Cano said in statements reported by Qatar’s Al-Qass TV channels.

The Saudi Arabian national team is in the 8th group of the world championship, next to Spain, Uruguay and Cape Verde.

Kano added: “Our goal is to get through the group stage so that our fans can relive the memories of the 1994 World Cup, and with the presence of professional players and the development of the Saudi League, things have become even better for us.”

The Saudi Arabian national team only managed to get past the group stage once in the history of the World Cup, 32 years ago, namely in the 1994 World Cup, before being eliminated in the first round in the next five games.

Canu concluded his remarks by talking about the Saudi national team’s historic 2-1 victory over their Argentine counterparts at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after trailing 1-0 in the first half.
