Kieran McGeeney: The Armagh manager will continue in the role for a 13th season

Kieran McGeeney will remain Armagh manager for the 2027 season following approval at a county committee meeting on Monday night.

McGeeney will remain the longest-serving inter-county manager as he approaches his 13th season in charge of his native county.

He joined Paul Grimley’s management team for the 2014 season before being installed as manager for the following year.

The Mullaghbown native also won the 2024 All-Ireland title with Armagh, completing a personal double for Sam Maguire as captain in 2002.

McGeeney’s 12th season saw Orchard County win a long-awaited Ulster title, the first time the county had won the Anglo-Celt Cup since 2008.

Armagh ended a run of near misses in the Ulster SFC by beating Monaghan 2-28 to 0-25.

They had reached the final hurdle in each of the previous three seasons, losing in a penalty shootout to Derry in 2023 and Donegal in 2024, while they lost to Jim McGuinness’s Donegal in extra time in 2025.

Their 2026 All-Ireland series ended in disappointment though as they were beaten by Louth in Round 2A of this season’s reformed Championship before falling to defending champions Kerry in Killarney.

McGeeney won six Ulster titles as a player.
