Katie Taylor will face Flora Pilley in a farewell fight as the WBC confirmed the fight ahead of the announcement on Friday Boxing news

Undisputed super lightweight champion Katie Taylor looks set to end her illustrious career against undefeated French fighter Flora Pili.

Taylor, 39, holds the IBF, WBA and WBO titles at 140lbs and will announce his retirement fight on Friday, expected to be at Dublin’s Croke Park venue.

Ahead of the announcement, the WBC appears to have confirmed the 28-year-old Pili as his opponent. Pili (12-0) is the mandatory challenger for Taylor’s IBF super lightweight title and is now the top-ranked contender for the vacant WBC belt.

Champion Sandy Ryan is pregnant and has been ‘champion in recess’ by the WBC, who have ordered Taylor to fight Pili.

Taylor was previously the WBC champion but vacated the belt in 2025 to take a break from boxing.

This means Taylor has the opportunity to unify all the belts in his final fight and become the undisputed champion for the third time in his career.

The date and venue of the fight are yet to be confirmed, but it is expected that Irish native Taylor will eventually get his wish to fight in Croke Park.

Taylor’s promoter Eddie Hearn said this Sky Sports: “Croke Park isn’t done yet. But there’s incredible momentum, as I said before, from the government, from Croke Park, from Katie Taylor, but more importantly, the people of Ireland. Everyone’s got this will-to-den approach to make it happen.

“I’ve brought it up myself, been there, seen Katie Taylor’s picture, just saying we can’t do it. We can’t walk away. Whatever obstacles come our way, we’ve got to jump over them. Whatever obstacles come our way, we’ve got to get straight.

“Watching her walk through the tunnel at Croke Park in front of 80,000 people will be the biggest women’s event of all time. Forget women’s boxing, forget boxing, forget men’s boxing, this is one of the greatest sporting events the world will ever see.

“The absolute pinnacle of this woman’s life, who gave every ounce of her soul to her country, to her sport, to breaking barriers and paving the way for every female warrior of her generation.

“There won’t be a dry eye when she walks out there. I want that moment. Selfishly, I want to stand in the ring and watch and look around as Katie Taylor walks out of Croke Park and closes the final box of her incredible career.”
