Kane: We were close to the finals… and what we submitted was not enough

England star Harry Kane has commented on the Three Lions losing their chance to challenge for the 2026 World Cup title.after losing 1-2 to Argentina in the semi-finals.

Kane wrote in his “X” network microblog. “Now there are no words to take away this deep feeling of sadness… We were close, very close to another final, but it wasn’t enough. We gave it everything we had over the last seven weeks, so to stop before we reach the goal is hard to accept.”

“I know the expectations are high, and deservedly so. We’ve been knocking on the door of success for 8 years, but we’re still missing the last piece of the success puzzle. Now we have to step back a bit, absorb what happened and then find a way to get better. I am proud of what the players presented and what we showed during this match.

“There are memories that will stay with us, the players, and I’m sure they will stay with you, the fans, for many years to come. Striving for fame doesn’t always mean you’ll get it. You have to fight for it, fall down, then get back up and keep trying, and that’s what we will do.
