Joshua vs. Fury: Heavyweight Tyson Fury teases ‘huge announcement’ with Dana White at UFC White House tour

Tyson Fury says he is set to appear in a “huge announcement” from Zuffa Boxing and UFC president Dana White.

Former heavyweight champion Fury was a special guest at the UFC’s White House show on Sunday, which took place as part of the celebration of 250 years of American independence.

During an interview with UFC broadcaster Jon Onick, the 37-year-old Briton was asked if he had announced White’s involvement.

“I think I’ll let Dana do the talking, but it’s a huge, huge announcement,” Fury said.

Asked if White would be part of the promotion for his long-awaited fight against fellow Briton Anthony Joshua, targeted for late 2026, Fury said: “100% chance, yes.”

White’s claim that he will promote Joshua vs. Fury has been repeatedly shot down by Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn and Fury’s promoter Frank Warren.

“I’m so excited for this fight. It’s been over a decade in the making,” added Fury.

“That’s why it hasn’t happened before. Let’s hope it happens now, very soon.”

BBC Sport has asked Matchroom and Queensbury for comment.

Founded by White and backed by Saudi Arabian funding, Zuffa Boxing is looking to challenge the sport’s established promoters.

It first made a big splash in February when it signed British welterweight Conor Benn in a dramatic move from Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom stable.

Zuffa has since signed a number of boxers, including IBF Cruiserweight World Champion Jai Opetaya, but signing Fury would be its biggest addition if it happens.

Fury enjoyed two reigns as heavyweight world champion and boasts a professional record of 35 wins, two losses – both against Oleksandr Usyk – and a draw with Deontay Wilder.

Queensberry’s Warren said in February that he was considering legal action over launching Zuffa, while White also has had multiple disputes with Hearn.

White said he hopes to change the Muhammad Ali Act – a 2000 US law designed to protect boxers’ rights and potentially monopolize fights.

Its consistency would allow him to recognize a jufa belt as a valid world championship title and eliminate the need to work with other sanctioning bodies.

Fury marked his return from retirement with a Arslanbek won over Makhmudov in April, and says he has another “potential fight in August” before the Joshua fight.

Joshua also needs to win before a possible fight with Fury on July 25 when he faces 36-year-old Christian Preng in Saudi Arabia.
