“It’s something we’ve been dreaming about as kids,” Kerr said. “I was in the Scottish development squad talking about the Commonwealth Games all the time and it’s something you never forget.
“Being part of Team Scotland is what I wanted to do when I got into the sport. You should never get too far away from it and I never did. Growing up, I wanted to stand on that start line in my Scotland vest.
“I mean, I love it. I bring it up… you’ve got the Olympics, the Worlds and the Commonwealth Games. I’ve always looked at it that way and if I ever get called up for the Commonwealth I’ll be the first one there.
“Time goes on, and I’ve lived in the States for a long time, but these are my roots and this is my blood and I just want to make myself proud and make Scotland proud.”
