Josh Jacobs: Green Bay Packers star arrested on domestic abuse charges

Green Bay Packers star running back Josh Jacobs has been arrested and taken into custody on five domestic abuse charges.

The local Hobart-Lawrence Police Department in Wisconsin said they responded to a disturbance complaint Saturday morning, and the 28-year-old was taken to the Brown County Jail on Tuesday.

He is charged with battery, criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct, as well as intimidation of a victim, as well as strangulation and strangulation.

“This remains an active and ongoing investigation. No further information will be released at this time,” Hobart-Lawrence Police Chief Michael Renkas said in a statement.

Jacobs has denied the allegations through his legal representatives.

“Josh vehemently denies the allegations, and this matter is in the early stages of an investigation with significant evidence that has yet to be released,” attorneys David Chesnoff, Richard Schoenfeld and Clarence Duchak said in a statement.

“We want fairness and restraint during the judicial process.”

The Packers said they were “aware of the matter” but would not comment further on the “ongoing legal situation.”

“We are aware of the report and have contacted the club,” the NFL said.

Jacobs is entering his third season with the Packers after signing a four-year, $48m (£35.6m) free agent deal in 2024.

He is a three-time Pro Bowl selection (2020, 2022, 2024) and led the NFL in rushing yards during his time with the Las Vegas Raiders.

In seven seasons, he rushed for 7,803 yards on 1,840 carries and scored 74 touchdowns.
