Jesus exposes the European coaches because of Felix.. What’s the story?

Exciting statements from an old Portuguese

New Portugal coach Jorge Jesus has reopened the case of Joao Felix, insisting the footballer had been wronged in recent years by not playing to his full potential before turning up in a different way during his spell at Saudi Arabia’s Al-Nasr.

Felix regained his luster under Jesus last season after the Portuguese coach decided to change the way he worked on the pitch and rely on him as a second striker behind the spearhead, a role that brought out his best.

“Joao Felix has played in the best clubs in Europe, but he hasn’t performed as expected.”

He added: “He was playing different positions and I think the coaches didn’t understand the best way to use his abilities.”

The Portugal coach explained that Felix has a specific role in which he can perform best, saying: “There is one position where Joao is at his best, and that is as a second striker.”

During their time together at Al-Nasr, Jesus managed to introduce Felix to the fans in a different way, giving him more space to move between the lines and taking advantage of his playing and scoring skills to restrict him to roles that did not suit his style.

The Portuguese had an exceptional season for Al-Nasr after scoring 33 goals in the Rushen League, where he scored 20 goals and provided 13 assists to win the tournament’s best player award.

It is noteworthy that Jesus recently took over the job of coaching Portugal, replacing the Spaniard Roberto Martinez after the World Cup farewell.
