Could the England star steal the World Cup spotlight?
British newspaper The Sun has shed light on the role Al-Ahly forward Ivan Toni could play for England at the 2026 World Cup, stressing that his value is not limited to technical aspects, but extends to his vast experience in dealing with hot climates.
The newspaper writes that Toney’s call-up to the Three Lions’ roster could be an important drawcard for the English team in the tournament, especially since the player spent a long time in the Saudi Arabian professional league with Al-Ahly, which taught him to play games in high temperatures and climates that are different from the English player.

He noted that this experience could give Tony an added advantage at the World Cup, given the concerns that are always raised about the ability of some European teams to adapt to hot and humid climates.
The newspaper quoted a sports medicine specialist as saying that the Al-Ahly striker is better versed in the ideal methods of hydration before and during matches, as well as the appropriate nutritional methods to deal with the stress caused by high temperatures.
He also explained that the player has the practical experience to take advantage of the water breaks during the matches and also knows how to physically prepare his body to face the difficult climatic conditions.
Observers believe that Toney’s experience in the stadiums of Saudi Arabia could give him an added advantage over some of his England counterparts, especially if the team faces matches in a similar atmosphere in their quest for the World Cup.
While all eyes will be on his goal-scoring ability and his role in the penalty area, it seems that the Jeddah Flames could give England a hidden weapon at the World Cup, namely experience and adaptability to conditions that can make a difference in the final meters of the tournament.
