The NBA fined celtic ahead Jaylen Brown $50,000 after he accused officials of having “an agenda” against him in Boston’s seven-game first-round loss on Tuesday. Philadelphia 76ers.
Two days after Brown appeared on his Twitch stream and took issue with the officials, the league announced that it had fined him for his public criticism of the officiating.
During the stream, Brown showed a play in which the Sixers forward Paul George Appear slightly pushed off before making an offensive move.
“If you’re going to make a push-off call, make the call,” Brown said. “Same moves, same refs. Oh, it’s nothing? It’s going on, right?
“But you call me? Everyone does it… but if it was me, it would be a flagrant foul.”
Brown was called for 10 offensive fouls in the first round, twice as many as the next highest player (Jalen Duren, Karl-Anthony Towns, Nehemiah Quetta And Stephen Castle each had five).
“Every good basketball player does that. What are you all talking about? They clearly had an agenda,” Brown said. “If Jaylen makes that move, call the offensive foul and follow him every time. I don’t know if it’s because I pissed off the ref. I’ve been critical of them, and I’ve called them out a lot of times. So, they were like, ‘You know what, I got you in the playoffs. Watch it.’ (Because) that’s exactly what they did.
“It’s obviously an agenda. Look at the same move. Some referees that if I had to pick, if I had to say, like there are some referees that need to be investigated. We’ve had three in the last three games.”
During the regular season, Brown ranked second with 40 offensive fouls against him. Towns was first with 65.
In the Celtics-76ers series, foul calls were relatively even between the two teams. The Celtics were called for 136 personal fouls; The Sixers were bowled out for 132 runs.
Brown also addressed the issue during a stream with the Sixers big man Joel EmbiidWhich he blamed on the kind of flopping that “ruined our game.”
“Joel Embiid is a great player. One of the best players in basketball history. (But he’s) a flop. He knows it,” Brown said. “It’s not breaking news. It is what it is.”
