Jones’ next taste of boxing will come on June 13 when he takes on Argentina’s dominant Federica on another Misfits bill that also includes Tommy Fury and the mighty Eddie Hall.
Jones – who won gold at the 2019 Taekwondo World Championships to add to his Olympic title – has previously spoken of his desire to reach the top in his new sport.
But he says he wants to enjoy new experiences without being burdened by the pressures he had after success in his earlier sporting career.
“From the day I won my first Olympics, the pressure was on me and it’s never been the same since,” she says. “You’re never so young again, young child.
“I thought changing sports would mean I’d have to start over, but you realize you’re always going to be an Olympic champion with those pressures on you.
“The mistakes I’ve made in taekwondo I feel like it’s everyone else pushing, but really it’s me doing it myself.”
He says he now realizes what he does and where he wants to take it is important.
“I have to pull myself back sometimes because even though I’m one-track minded, and want to be the best in boxing now, I’m here for a new challenge and to enjoy it and see where it goes,” he adds.
“I haven’t set any sights so far.”
