It’s official… the 2026 World Cup breaks the all-time record for crowd attendance

The 2026 World Cup continued to make history, officially breaking the record for the largest attendance in the tournament’s history following the completion of the Group Stage 3 matches between Germany against Ecuador and Ivory Coast against Curaçao.

The combined crowd at stadiums in the United States, Canada and Mexico reached 3,605,357 fans after the first two matches on Thursday, beating the previous record and making the 2026 World Cup the most attended game in World Cup history, the International Football Federation (FIFA) said.

This achievement reflects the exceptional public participation the tournament has witnessed since its inception, benefiting from the competition being held in 3 countries for the first time, in addition to increasing the number of participating teams to 48 teams, contributing to a total of 104 matches.

The current edition witnessed a remarkable attendance at various stadiums as the stands were packed in many matches in a great festive atmosphere that confirms the growing popularity of the tournament worldwide.

The historic number is expected to continue to grow as the group stage competition continues, then through the knockout stages, to make the 2026 World Cup a contender to finish the tournament well ahead of the previous record, with a new achievement added to the World Cup record.
