Saudi Al Hilal Saudi club have officially announced the signing of international goalkeeper Mohammed Al Owais following his remarkable brilliance with Al Akhdar at the 2026 World Cup.
In an official statement, Al-Hilal revealed that Al-Owais had signed a two-season contract, returning to Al-Zaim just a year after his departure, a move that reignited debate over the goalkeeper’s future at the club, particularly amid the transfer of Moroccan Yassin Bounu.
Al Owais will join Al Hilal’s camp in Austria in preparation for the new season after he opted to return to the capital club despite three offers from Al Hilal, Diriya and Al Shabab, taking advantage of his remarkable brilliance with Saudi Arabia at the 2026 World Cup to bring him back to the forefront of interest.

The international goalkeeper left Al Hilal in the summer of 2025 and moved to Al-Ula in search of a regular feature after years of being the back-up goalkeeper behind Yassine Bounu. Since joining in January 2022, he has made 20 appearances in various competitions during his first spell with Al-Zeem, keeping 10 clean sheets and conceding 17 goals.
It is worth noting that Al Owais performed remarkably in the 2026 World Cup despite Saudi Arabia’s elimination from the group stage, as he was one of the most outstanding goalkeepers in the tournament.
