One Palestinian child has been killed every day in the nearly eight months since the so-called “ceasefire” with Israel, the United Nations children’s agency says.
UNICEF describes the deal as a “brutal and deadly betrayal” as Israel continues to attack the besieged areas.

Israeli forces have killed at least 265 Palestinian children since October 2025, when an end to hostilities was declared, UNICEF said on Friday.
UNICEF spokesman James Elder told reporters in Geneva: “During the so-called prevention and protection, a child is killed every day for more than 8 months.”
He added that the continuing deaths show the stupidity of the ceasefire that did not protect Palestinian children from Israeli fire.
“Although the world continues to speak the language of war, families in Gaza continue to bury their men and women,” he said.
The official said children were killed in homes, schools and public places, including while playing football or fishing.
“This week: a 2-year-old boy was shot and killed by Israeli soldiers; a 13-year-old boy was shot and killed inside his tent; a 5-year-old boy and his father were killed by an Israeli attack, and it continues,” he added.
According to UNICEF, more than 400 children have been injured since October, many with serious injuries.
“The suffering does not end with those killed. More than 400 children have been injured, many with serious injuries,” said Elder.
“You sneeze near the Orange Line and you can be shot,” Elder maintained, referring to the “constant creeping” of Israel’s “Yellow Line” and “Orange Line” occupation borders.
He cited recent cases involving a 12-year-old girl who was shot in the chest in her tent and a three-year-old girl who was shot in the face by a bullet from a quadcopter drone in her home.
An official warned that hundreds of children need to be rushed to hospital, while Israel’s restrictions on essential medicines are increasing the risk of infections, complications and amputations among injured children.
Israel’s blockade and military restrictions have trapped children inside a devastated health system, as hospitals struggle with shortages of medicine, fuel, workers and equipment after months of shelling and siege, aid workers said.
The elder said the emotional distress of the children of Gaza has become unbearable, fear and violence make up their daily lives.
“For the children of Gaza, fear, death and violence have become so constant that trauma has become part of their lives – it is embedded in their childhood,” he said.
He urged governments and international organizations to take action, saying that the continuing deaths of children during the ceasefire should scare everyone who adheres to international law.
He said: “No cessation of hostilities can be considered meaningful when children continue to be killed.”
The elder also pointed Lebanonwhile UNICEF said 247 children have been killed and 992 injured since the violence escalated on March 2.
Friday’s warning came as Israeli airstrikes hit families who fled their homes in al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis in southern Gaza, injuring at least five people, according to the Palestinian Wafa news agency.
Palestinian health officials said Thursday that Israel’s deadly war in Gaza has killed at least 73,018 Palestinians and injured 173,273 since October 7, 2023.
They said that Israeli attacks have killed 1,007 people and wounded 3,165 since the “ceasefire” took effect on October 11, while rescue teams have found 784 bodies in previously inaccessible areas.
