Italian singer Pausini told the BBC’s Carl Nasman that she was “very excited” and “proud” to perform at the closing ceremony with Williams and Scherzinger.
“When Robbie (Williams) invited me to sing with him, I was all over the place because Robbie is one of my favorite singers, songwriters and performers,” Posini told the BBC.
The celebrity line-up will continue at halftime with performances from Madonna, Justin Bieber, Shakira and BTS.
Madonna, the best-selling female music artist of all time, is set to perform following the launch of her new album, Confessions II, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart in July.
Bieber also returned to the spotlight earlier this year, with his biggest live performance in four years at the Coachella music festival after canceling his Justice World Tour due to health issues.
