The court ruling has paved the way for Marine Le Pen to run for president again next year.
A French court ruling allows the leader of the far-right National Rally to run for president in April. It commuted and suspended Marine Le Pen’s prison sentence and banned her from seeking public service, while upholding her conviction in the European Parliament job scandal.
He must wear an electronic monitor for one year while on home security. Le Pen has said that this will prevent her from campaigning and wants to challenge her decision at the highest court in France. But he is leading in the polls.
Will his appointment take him to the Elysee Palace? Or will voters who care about Le Pen’s nationalist, anti-immigrant policies unite around a common enemy, as they have done in the past?
