Is the AfD a threat to Germany? Mehdi Hasan & Maximilian Krah | Migration

Running on an anti-immigrant, anti-deportation platform, Germany’s far-right Alternative fur Deutschland (AfD) became the second largest party in parliament last year and is voting for the first time in 2026.

Opponents see the AfD’s rise as a threat to Germany’s multi-ethnic democracy and the future of the European Union – something the AfD rejects.

The major parties have so far kept it out of government by maintaining an inconsistent “firewall”, but will it work?

Mehdi Hasan criticizes Maximilian Krah, the AfD member, on the issue of “Immigration”, his views on Muslims, and whether the party should be considered subversive.
