Favorite Gtsaad cruised to a comfortable victory in the Irish 2,000 Guineas at the Curragh.
After finishing second at Newmarket, Gtsaad bounced back to claim a 12th win in trainer Aidan O’Brien’s event.
In the hands of Ryan Moore, the 4-11 favorite took control from early leaders Alperslan and Power Blue entering the final quarter mile.
Gtsaad pulled away impressively by three lengths ahead of Distant Storm second and Pacific Avenue third.
“He had a nice draw (eight) – he was sitting there on the wing, but he was comfortable. Nothing got in his way and we kept it very complicated,” Moore told RTE.
“I only asked him to go from halfway and he’s got quite an outstanding stride and when able to use it, he’s an impressive horse.
“He deserved it, he’s been second a couple of times and never ran a bad race. Things went against him sometimes last year.
“He’s back and he’s a big, ‘scoppy’ horse and looks like he can improve.”
