Ireland beat India to win T20 series at home | Cricket News

Ireland won the second T20 series by one run against India, who never gave a first innings to youngster Sooryavanshi.

Ireland secured their most impressive World T20 win over India in Belfast with a hard-fought one-run victory after India once again denied young all-rounder Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.

Harry Tector marked his 100th T20 international with a fine 50, as Ireland recovered from a slow start to post 154-8 at Stormont.

India-born Jai Moondra, who made his debut in international cricket on Friday, dismissed Sanju Samson lbw on the first ball to chase India.

He also dismissed Abhishek Sharma immediately, before dismissing Indian captain Shreyas Iyer.

India rallied after a rain delay, Tilak Varma made 55 and Harshit Rana 21 late on, but it was not enough, as they finished on 153-9.

India’s 15-year-old batsman Sooryavanshi has been forced into the white-ball squad for Ireland and England following a series of 20-over-per-side displays in the Indian Premier League.

Sooryavanshi became the leading scorer this season after scoring 776 runs for Rajasthan Royals, a tally that included one hundred and fifty.

But as was the case in the first match of the two-match series on Friday, when Ireland won by 34 runs in their first ever men’s international victory over India in any form, the rider was left behind.

Sooryavanshi’s next chance to make his international debut will come on Wednesday in the first T20 against England in Chester-le-Street, the regional capital of Durham.
