Following a public ceremony held by Iranian officials and foreign dignitaries, Khamenei’s casket was placed in public on Saturday under a glass vault.
Iranian political and military officials also attended the funeral, including President Masoud Pezeshkian, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, and Quds Force commander Esmail Qaani.

Abdelwahed said that while some people “believe that the change will bring stability and security”, others “want another fight”.

Mostafa Khoshcheshm, a professor at the University of Applied Science and Technology in Tehran, says the message from Iranians who attended the funeral of the great leader is mixed.
“I believe the message is clear: The Iranian people will not be fooled by negotiations or some kind of (information agreement). They are awake. They know that the United States and Israel’s hostility has not ended,” Khoshcheshm told Al Jazeera.
