Iranian-Americans protested the Iranian team outside the opening World Cup game

Calls to remove Iran’s clerical regime were heard outside Iran’s World Cup opener.

Iranian-Americans gathered in Los Angeles to protest the presence of an Iranian group they believe has ties to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

Iranian striker Mehdi Taremi told reporters this week that US-Iranian political tensions would “harm” the excitement of the World Cup.
