Iran war day 121: Iran attacks Bahrain, Kuwait while US strikes near Hormuz | US-Israel War on Iran News

The US is striking Iran for a second day near the Strait of Hormuz as Bahrain sounds sirens and Kuwait conducts air defenses.

The United States has done so they bombed Iran for the second straight day, hitting Sirik, Bandar-e Lengeh and Qeshm Island after a drone attack on a merchant ship near the Strait of Hormuz.

Airstrikes were heard in Bahrain, while Kuwait said its air defense was responding to “threats from drone and drone weapons”, which sparked tensions across the region.

Meanwhile, Israel carried out fresh attacks in southern Lebanon, killing one person, a day after it agreed with the Lebanese government to end the conflict.

In Iran

• Iran sees the Strait of Hormuz as an important channel: Tehran-based political analyst Abbas Aslani said Iran sees the waterway as a deterrent to future US attacks. “Iran sees (the crisis) as a way to prevent the repetition of any aggression against the country,” he told Al Jazeera, adding that any attempt to change the situation there “forcefully” is “unacceptable to Tehran”.
• IRGC claims to have hit US forces in Gulf: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it fired missiles and drones at the US Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait and the US Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain in response to US strikes on five Iranian coastal areas.

The Gulf

• Bahrain sounds sirens, Kuwait deploys air defenses: Bahrain urged people to evacuate to the nearest safe place after sirens sounded, while Kuwait said it was responding to “armed and drone threats”. A US official told Reuters that there were no US casualties or major damage so far.
• Oman joins Gulf countries in condemning Bahrain attack: Oman has condemned the Iranian drone attack on Bahrain, expressing full solidarity with the kingdom and rejecting any threat to regional security. Qatar, Kuwait and the UAE also condemned the attack.

In the US

• The White House shows courage: Reports from Washington, DC, Manuel Rapalo said President Donald Trump’s warning that the US could be forced to “finish the job” if Iran continues to attack has raised new concerns about further escalation.
• Analyst warns US-Iran conflict could escalate: Retired US Navy chief Harlan Ullman says the latest “tit-for-tat” between Washington and Tehran could “get out of hand”. He also said that rising oil prices could force President Donald Trump to return to negotiations.
• The US Congress says that Iran is violating the rules of war: Democratic Representative Ro Khanna condemned the US attack on Iran as a “flagrant violation” of the War Powers Resolution passed by Congress, and warned: “Trump must stop this war now, or we will take him to court.”

In Israel

• Netanyahu hails Lebanon deal as blow to Iran: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the agreement between the US and Lebanon a “historic event” and a “great threat to Iran and Hezbollah”. The deal, the most successful between the neighbors in years, aims to end the conflict and allow Israel to maintain security in southern Lebanon until Hezbollah is disarmed.
• Ben-Gvir calls the Lebanon deal a ‘big mistake’: Right-wing Israeli Defense Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said the deal gives Hezbollah “the option it asked for” and said Israel should “crush”, not “integrate”, the group. He said that he opposes the agreement in the Israeli cabinet and will continue to do so.

In Lebanon

• Trump congratulates Lebanon after signing ceremony: Lebanon’s leadership has said that President Donald Trump praised President Joseph Aoun after the signing ceremony between the US and Israel and promised that the US would support Lebanon’s economy and military. Aoun urged Washington to ensure that Israel abides by the agreement and withdraw its troops from southern Lebanon.
• Hezbollah has rejected the agreement between Lebanon and Israel, calling it “absurd”.
