Iran has announced the funeral, the days of the burial of the Supreme Leader Khamenei | US-Israel War on Iran News


Funeral services will be held in Tehran and Qom before being buried in his hometown of Mashhad.

The funeral of the late Supreme Leader of Iran Ali Khamenei will begin in Tehran on July 4, and he will be buried in his hometown of Mashhad on July 9, according to state media.

The funeral, originally scheduled for March but postponed due to the fighting, will be followed by three days of mourning in Tehran starting on July 4 and another in the holy city of Qom on July 7.

The first day of national mourning coincides with the United States’ Independence Day.

Khamenei, 86, was killed in a US-Israeli airstrike on his compound in February.

Khamenei he has led Iran since 1989, following the death of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, who led the Islamic revolution a decade earlier.

While Khomeini was the one who started the protests that ended the rule of the Pahlavi dynasty, Khamenei developed weapons and military equipment.

His successor, son Mojtaba Khamenei, has not been seen in public since the start of the US-Israel conflict.

Earlier this month, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Mojtaba Khamenei appeared to be participating as talks between the two countries continued following the April 8 agreement.
