The Iranian Federation calls on FIFA to guarantee visas
Yesterday, Wednesday, Iran held a farewell ceremony for the team participating in the 2026 World Championship, which was attended by thousands of fans in Tehran.
The fans, who will continue their preparation at the training camp in Turkey next week, received warm applause with enthusiastic speeches from the podium, and the uniform they will wear during the tournament was revealed, reports Reuters.

Mehdi Taj, head of Iran’s football federation, told state television. “This is the best farewell in the last four World Cups. Football players, together with the people and fans, stand next to the dignity, honor and strength of the country. Whatever the outcome, we hope that the Iranian flag will fly there and be protected.”
Two weeks ago, Taj was denied entry to Canada, one of the tournament’s co-host countries, to attend the FIFA General Assembly in connection with Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, prompting fears that some members of the Iranian delegation may face problems entering the United States.
Hedayat Mombini, Secretary General of the Iranian Federation, said: “We haven’t received anything related to entry visas yet, we hope that this issue will definitely be resolved during this time…
More worrying for the Iranian side were reports that some Iraqi national team players had been denied entry visas to the US, which were swiftly rejected by the White House and the Iraqi federation yesterday.
Mombeni added: “I also just heard this news. I hope FIFA will intervene… We have always believed that sports should be separated from politics. Therefore, in my opinion, it is the duty of FIFA to intervene and ensure the entry of all members of the World Cup.”
Iran will play Gambia on May 29 in Antalya, Turkey, preparing for the World Cup. Mombini said that the Iranian Federation is working to organize another friendly match in the Turkey camp.
