Kuwait and Bahrain report several Iranian missile attacks, drone attacks; they say sirens are heard in Jordan.

Iran has launched drones and missiles at Kuwait and Bahrain and said it has stopped two ships in the Strait of Hormuz after the eighth night in a row by the United States.

Kuwait and Bahrain also reported many Iranian waves On Sunday, Kuwaiti authorities said one attack had set a fire at an electricity and water plant.

Both countries, which have U.S. military bases, have faced increasing Iranian threats to their Gulf neighbors since hostilities resumed this month but disrupted the U.S.-Iran ceasefire.

Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy condemned “Iranian aggression”, while Bahrain’s military said its air defenses had also thwarted Iran’s “deception”.

Iran’s military said Sunday’s raid in Kuwait targeted a US weapons depot at Camp al-Adiri and air defense radars at the Ali Al Salem airbase, which is home to US personnel.

In a statement on IRIB radio, Iran’s military said its forces “remain strong and steadfast” in protecting the Iranian people “from the enemies of Iran and the people”.

Also on Sunday, the Israeli military said an Iranian missile was fired towards the Jordanian city of Aqaba, while sirens were said to be heard in Jordan. Israeli and Jordanian forces intercepted an Iranian missile, the Israeli military told AFP.

The recent attack on Iran follows a number of factors overnight the US is hitting Iran which Washington said was aimed at “punishing” the Islamist Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) who carried out previous attacks in Jordan that killed two US citizens. The US military said the strike was also aimed at “undermining Iran’s ability to threaten commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz”.

The US attack took place in the Iranian territories of Hormozgan and Khuzestan, as well as on Qeshm Island, according to Iranian reports. It was less than previous nights in the US, Al Jazeera’s Tohid Asadi reported from Tehran.

Later on Sunday, Iran’s nuclear watchdog said the US had attacked a nuclear power plant in the country’s southwest, which it denounced as a violation of international law.

The ships stopped at Hormuz

There were signs on Sunday of further unrest in the Strait of Hormuz, where the IRGC said it had detained two ships that tried to use an “unsafe route”. It said both were involved in an “undisclosed accident”.

The situation in Hormuz has proven to be a big argument following the US-Iran Memorandum of Understanding signed last month, which extended the April moratorium and agreed to a gradual reopening of the waterway. Iranian officials say Tehran has the right to continue monitoring shipments through the crisis. The US says Iran does not control the waterway he restored his own restraint about Iranian ports.

Paul Musgrave, a professor of government at Georgetown University in Qatar, said Iran has the “power” to commit to war, which it sees as imminent.

“Since February, the asymmetry in the direction of interests has become clear: the government of Tehran is fighting the current war. The United States and Israel are fighting a war on policy decisions,” Musgrave told Al Jazeera.
