Online complaints indicates that AcuRite has customers who are satisfied with the capabilities of My AcuRite. However, maintaining the program long-term is not sustainable for AcuRite, Bovee said.
“The technology behind My AcuRite is obsolete and can no longer be maintained,” he said.
AcuRite is refusing to keep two programs to save money and because of “long-term support,” the official said.
“While (My AcuRite) continues to work for many users, the underlying systems require constant maintenance, updates, hosting, monitoring, security support, and related services such as mobile phones, operating systems, cloud services, and third-party integrations continue to change,” said Bovee.
As AcuRite announced the end of its original software, it also removed the online dashboard that allowed users to manage their devices through a web browser.
“Because the web dashboard, mobile app, cloud services, and device connectivity were all integrated into the legacy system, browsers cannot be kept separate when the platform is gone,” Bovee said.
He said AcuRite is planning a new web-based dashboard for AcuRite NOW, but could not confirm a release date.
Despite the customer’s disappointment, Bovee hopes that the new software will not cause long-time users to abandon their devices, as AcuRite has gone “to great expense to bring a seasoned start point” to the new platform.
“We know that the transition to AcuRite NOW has not been as easy as some customers expected, and we understand the frustration it creates. “We are not removing those feelings,” said Bovee. “We ask for your patience as our team continues to fix issues, improve functionality, and develop a new platform. Our goal is to restore trust by making AcuRite NOW the best to use in indoor climates.”
