When dreams change quickly
Italian Simone Inzaghi’s journey with Al Hilal appears to be rapidly coming to an end after media reports revealed that the former Inter Milan and Lazio coach is set to leave the Saudi club after just one season, despite signing a two-year deal for €26m last summer.
According to the website:Tutto Mercato Web:“Indzaghi’s departure is imminent as Saudi sources state that Al Hilal’s final match in the Saudi Roshen League could be the Italian coach’s last at the helm of the team’s technical staff.
Reports suggest that changes to the club’s ownership played a role in the decision, in addition to the re-evaluation of a number of huge summer deals that fell short of the expected addition, most notably that of Darwin Nunes.
The development opens the door for Inzaghi to return to the coaching market in Europe, a year after leaving Inter Milan, amid growing questions about the possibility of a quick return to the Italian league or fresh experience elsewhere.
The Italian coach recently spoke about the scenes of his departure from Inter Milan, emphasizing that the decision was made after he felt that an entire period with the club was over.
“The truth is that everything happened very quickly,” Inzaghi said. “Two days after the Monaco game, we had a meeting at Marotta’s house with Ausilio and Pacini present. That’s when I made it clear that I wanted a new experience because I felt like I had come full circle.”
“Inter” management wanted me to continue, but they understood my decision and we parted amicably and our relationship is still great. But if we won the Champions League, I would stay at Inter.
Inzaghi also revealed that he has turned down several training offers in previous seasons, explaining: “I received other offers on different occasions, but I did not accept them.”
